Ticehurst and Flimwell Parent Teacher Association

The importance of being involved:

The main aim of the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) at Ticehurst and Flimwell CEP School is to advance the education of its pupils.  We believe that when families are involved at both home and school children do better, grades improve, self-esteem grows and in turn our school thrives.

The PTA helps to build relationships and friendships by connecting children, parents, carers, staff and others associated with the school. We do this through communications, meetings and events, all of which help to develop and maintain a sense of community.

How does the school benefit?

The primary role of the PTA is to fundraise.  Throughout the year we hold various events which have included: a Wild West Hoedown (complete with rampant bucking bronco!), Christmas fayre, quizza nights (quiz and pizza), car boot sale, zumba party, Valentine’s breakfast, Mad Hat tea party, children’s discos and much more.

Whilst the majority of the money raised by the PTA goes towards items which benefit the entire school (e.g. the outdoor classroom, school trips, sporting equipment), this year the PTA’s objective is to supply Bedgebury class with an interactive smart board.  The aim will then be to kit out the remaining classes.  A smart board will enable the teachers to create lessons, write notes, use digital ink, and offer collaborative experiences for our children. They help to engage the children and encourage hands-on interactive learning.  Items like this are not just luxury add-ons but fundamental pieces of equipment to aid our children’s learning.

In order to realise our goal we need your help.  Whether you are able to commit to regular meetings and sustained fundraising, or just helping at a single event, we’d love for you to join us, and our children will reap the benefits.
