School Governing Body
The Governing Body of Ticehurst and Flimwell C of E Primary School
The role of the governing body is to focus on three key strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction:
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff;
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Additionally, as a voluntary controlled Church of England school our Foundation Governors, who are appointed by the Diocese of Chichester, have a specific focus to maintain the Christian character of the school.
Our Instrument of Governance allows for 3 foundation governors, 1 Local Authority appointed governor, 3 parent governors, 1 governor elected by staff and 3 co-opted governors appointed by the governing body for their specific skills and competencies. The Headteacher is also a governor. We currently have some vacancies, so if you would be interested in joining us, please contact our Chair, Monica Pell via email, chair@ticehurst.e-sussex.sch.uk or the school office.
The full governing board meets at least six times a year. Governors also use their identified skills and expertise in working groups that are created from time to time, these have a specific focus and report back to the full Governing Body. All members of the Governing Body have full voting rights. During the school year, governors carry out a number of monitoring visits. Details of the visits are recorded and any recommendations for action are considered by the full governing body.
Minutes of the Full Governing Board meetings are available and can be accessed through the school office. If printed versions are required, they will be supplied free of charge.
Our Chair of Governors, Monica Pell, can be contacted by email, chair@ticehurst.e-sussex.sch.uk or via the school office.
