School Meals
All of our school dinners are cooked on site and are fantastic! Over 50% of our children have a cooked meal every day as well as a number of our staff. The meals are designed to meet national nutritional standards and assist the children with a healthy, balanced diet. Please click onto the Chartwells website to find more information about school dinners at Ticehurst and Flimwell and a menu of what's on offer.
A school meal costs £2.85 currently. Payment of Dinner Money is paid online via ParentPay and the required menu choice is also booked online via ParentPay (all meals must be booked online - even if no payment is required). Bookings for meals can be made in advance up to a term at a time, but at the latest must be booked before 8.30 am on the day.
Since September 2014 the Government provides funding for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Children to be offered a free school lunch. Children in other school years will also be offered a free school lunch if their parent is receiving certain welfare benefits. If you think you may be entitled to claim free school meals please ask at the School Office.
Packed lunches
Packed lunches should be in a named container for storage until lunchtime. Please do not include sweets, chocolate bars or sticky, fizzy drinks in your child's lunch box, and also school lunches should not have nuts or nut products in them (sandwiches should not contain spreads such as peanut butter or Nutella). If you provide a yogurt please include a spoon. For reasons of safety we are unable to allow hot drinks in thermos flasks or the use of glass bottles or cans. Plastic bottles, containers or cartons of drink are perfectly acceptable. During the summer term it is advisable to place a small ice pack in the lunch box to keep food cool.
Fruit for Morning Play
Fruit is available for all four to six year old children in maintained schools. It entitles all children in Fuji and Matterhorn classes to a free piece of fresh fruit or vegetable every school day.
The scheme aims to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables and contribute to a reduction in the risk of heart disease and cancer in later life. The scheme is run by the Department of Health, and any CSA-maintained school can choose to take part.
Milk
As a Primary school in East Sussex we take part in the 'Cool Milk' scheme. The scheme provides free milk every school day to children under five years old. Once your child turns five, you may pay for school milk to continue by registering online with Cool Milk direct by following the link -
