Behaviour Approach

At Ticehurst and Flimwell CE Primary School we are developing a therapeutic approach to developing character, self regulation and subsequently pro-social behaviours.  As a staff and a school community we are learning together about brain development and finding ways to meet our needs in ways that mean we provide an environment that means everybody is "safe, happy and able to learn".

Underpinned by our School Vision and virtues, our new approach and related policies and procedures have developed through consultation with children, staff, families, Governors and the local community to ensure it meets the needs of all.

Our therapeutic approach empowers our young people; it supports the development of pro-social skills for all. It also creates a targeted support structure for young people with high levels of difficulty, including those who:

  • Have difficulty keeping to agreed boundaries.
  • Demonstrate social and emotional difficulties which may lead to unwanted behaviours and challenging relationships.
  • Experience difficulties in following instructions and regulating emotions.
  • Struggle to manage time, organise equipment and get started on tasks.
