Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The EYFS framework sets standards for the learning, development and care of children between 0-5 years old . It is a statutory document.
- The Early Years Framework is intended to build on children's previous learning and to enable further development.
- The curriculum planned for pupils in Reception at Ticehurst and Flimwell Church of England Primary school offers opportunities for children that transition from their prior experiences at Nursery or Pre-school settings, into Primary School education.
- Children are encouraged to engage in purposeful, meaningful and experimental play that is scaffolded by skilled practitioners to enable learning in progressive next steps for both individuals and cohorts.
- Planning and experiences are based on Development Matters and are a blend of child-led, adult supported and adult led activities.
- Children's development is initially prioritised in the Prime Areas of Physical, Communication and Language and Personal, Social and Emotional Development, which provide the building blocks for learning for the specific areas of Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Art/Design.
- Inspired by a rich reading diet of quality texts, the development of imagination, language, vocabulary and independent thinking are the cornerstones of our Early Years Class.
- A broad and balanced curriclum is enabled through a stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment which supports all seven areas and is always engaging, practical and fun!
